Porsche 718 Boxster generations

The Porsche Boxster is a roadster with a boxer engine mounted longitudinally in the center, produced from 1996 to the present. The name "Boxster" is formed from the merger of two English words: boxer (boxer engine) and roadster (2-door 2-seater body). The model was inspired by the successful racing car of the 1950s, the 550 Spyder, which sported an open top for the sake of lightweight construction. In 2008, Auto Bild magazine named the Boxster the most reliable passenger car aged 4 to 5 years and 8 to 9 years.
