SIMCA stands for "Societe Industrielle de Mechanique et Carrosserie Automobile" which means "Industrial Society Manufacturing Cars and Car Bodies". Simca (France) founded in 1934 managed to produce 30,000 Fiats even before its foundation. Therefore, it is logical that the first Simca model was Simka-Fiat 6CV based on Fiat 508 Balilla. It was only in 1951 that the company unveiled Aronde, a car of its own design. After Simca came under the control of Chrysler, all of its models were already manufactured under the Simca-Chrysler or Chrysler-Simca brand. In 1978, the Americans sold Simca factories to Peugeot-Citroen group and the Simca brand disappeared from the automotive market.
