President Recep Tayyip Erdogan dreamed of his own domestic brand even before he was elected, so he took an active part in the creation of the new and first Turkish electric car brand TOGG or Türkiye'nin Otomobili Girişim Grubu, which can be shortly translated as "Turkish car". This is a project of five major representatives of the country's business: the automaker BMC, the brewing company Anadolu Group, the cellular operator Turkcell, the industrial and energy holding Zorlu and the Union of Chambers of Commerce and Commodity Exchanges. Founded in 2018, the automotive company has already launched serial production at its plant in the “automotive” province of Bursa in November 2022.
