Toyota Belta – overview
The Toyota Belta is a subcompact sedan based on the Toyota Vitz/Yaris hatchback. It was produced from 2005 to 2012, and was restyled in 2008. In the North American and Australian markets, the sedan was sold as the Yaris. The word "Belta" means "beautiful" in Italian. The car received rounded, even "chubby" shapes, and looked very harmonious and feminine. The car was equipped with 1.0 and 1.3-liter gasoline engines with a CVT, while the larger engine could be paired with a permanent all-wheel drive system and automatic transmission. The sedan features a MacPherson strut suspension at the front and a torsion beam suspension at the rear.
