Toyota Prius generations

The Toyota Prius is a front-wheel drive C-segment car produced since 1997. It is considered the world's first mass-produced hybrid car, which is powered by both gasoline and electric engines. This is reflected in its name: the word "Prius" has Latin roots and is interpreted as "first" or "original". For its environmental friendliness, low level of harmful emissions and low fuel consumption, the car won many prizes and awards, was named the "Car of the Year" in Japan, North America and Europe. The modern 5-door 4-seater liftback has a futuristic look, features a more efficient engine, a modified transmission and has become much more fuel-efficient. Moreover, the manufacturer introduced an all-wheel drive version with a periodically connected electric drive of the rear axle.
