The cost of Toyota models in Israel will increase: the website of Union Motors, the exclusive supplier of Toyota in Israel, has published an updated price list for 2023. Let’s make it clear from the very beginning that the increase is insignificant. For example, the popular Toyota Corolla sedan will increase in price from 5,000 to 7,000 shekels, the Toyota Yaris compact hatchback will cost 3,000 shekels more, and everyone’s favorite, the Toyota RAV4 SUV, will rise in price from 2,000 up to 7,000 shekels. As a result, Toyota in Israel shows moderate growth from 2,000 to 15,000 shekels. Moreover, this is mainly due to the changed formula for calculating the ‘green’ tax from January 2023, which, as expected, led to a general increase in prices in the Israeli automotive market.
The increase in prices, of course, is not encouraging, but, in addition, we are waiting for several completely new models or updated versions. In 2023, Toyota Israel will launch an updated sedan 12th generation Toyota Corolla restyled in 2022. The car received a comprehensive facelift, received more powerful hybrid versions, an upgraded third-generation Toyota Safety Sense security system, a new 10.5-inch touch-screen multimedia system and a 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster.
In addition, the latest 5th generation Toyota Prius is waiting for us. In Israel, the liftback will be available in a plug-in hybrid version with 225 hp, which is able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds and drive on pure electric traction for about 70 km. It should be noted that in 2023, Toyota Israel expects continued growth in the sales of vehicles with an alternative powertrains, including hybrid-electric ones (in 2022, the market share of such models was approximately 80% of all Toyota vehicles sold in Israel).
