Vauxhall Ampera – overview
The Vauxhall Ampera is a front-wheel drive plug-in hybrid liftback produced by General Motors from 2011 to 2015. With a fully charged battery (16 kWh) it was capable of driving from 40 to 80 km exclusively on electricity. An internal combustion engine with 86 hp started automatically as soon as the battery charge level dropped below about 20% (3.2 kWh). The car had a very stylish design and ergonomic interior. The American counterpart of the Ampera, Chevrolet Volt, won the 2009 Green Car Vision Award, 2011 Green Car, 2011 North American Car, 2011 World Green Car, 2012 European Car and 2016 Green Car.
