On September 10, 2021, Subaru of America unveiled a car that has a whole group of hardcore fans all over the world. The USA is the first country to see the newcomer, which will appear in early 2022. The schedule of arrival of cars to other markets will be known later. Oddly enough, the Japanese version hasn’t even been released yet.

  • For reference: The first-generation Subaru WRX debuted in 2014 and was restyled in March 2016. Israeli buyers could purchase the top-end STi version with a 2.5 liter (300 hp) engine, manual transmission and all-wheel drive until spring 2021.

If you take the count from the entry-level Impreza, which served as the basis for the WRX, this is the fifth generation of the model. The powerful Subaru sports sedan is very similar to the second-generation Levorg model, and also vaguely resembles the Viziv Performance and Viziv Tourer concept cars, as the wheel arches also differ by an irregular shape and corresponding plastic linings.

Both the sedan and the estate, which preceded the production model, looked very fast and stylish. Both came without door handles and door mirrors, resembling the racing models with their low ground clearance and rising waistline. The newcomer inherited the general ‘mood’ from these models.

The new Subaru WRX will be built on the SGP platform and will be powered by a 2.4-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder boxer petrol engine, as befits the true Subaru car. The engine is called FA24 (known from the Askent, Outback and Legacy models). Its estimated power reaches 271 hp, which will be transmitted to all wheels (Symmetrical AWD scheme) through a 6-speed manual transmission or Subaru Performance Transmission.

In your opinion, does Israel need a new Subaru WRX?
