Austin Motor (UK) incorporated in 1905 manufactured cars that were referred to as the top and most prestigious class. Austin's customers included Russian grand dukes, Vatican bishops as well as Spanish and British nobles. In the 80s, Austin that had already proceeded to manufacturing budget-oriented cars was joined by Rover Group that released more prestigious models. And later on, in 1987, the Austin badge was completely abandoned. The factory continued to manufacture cars but they were a "brand without a brand” – the Rover logo (missing the word “Rover” however”) was installed on the hood. The last Austin car, the legendary Austin Rover convertible or MG F, rolled off the assembly line back in 1989.
