Chevrolet Optra – overview

The Chevrolet Optra is a family of compact sedans, wagons, and hatchbacks in the golf class, sold since 2004. The GM conglomerate skillfully juggled this model, releasing it under nearly 13 different names across the world: Daewoo Nubira in South Korea, Chevrolet Nubira in Europe, Chevrolet Lacetti in Russia, Uzbekistan, and later in Europe, Holden Viva in Australia and New Zealand, Suzuki Forenza (sedan and wagon) and Suzuki Reno (hatchback) in the US, and Buick Excelle/HRV in China. The model may have many names, but they all share the unified J200 platform. Under the Optra name, the car was sold in an even larger number of countries than as the Lacetti. At present, the Chevrolet Optra has been discontinued in almost all markets, although a new generation has been sold in Egypt and Algeria since 2014.
