Ford Tourneo Connect – overview

The Ford Tourneo Connect is a light commercial vehicle built on the Ford Focus platform. The front-wheel drive vans have been produced since 2002 in Romania and Turkey with different body lengths and heights. Next, they are imported into the US and the UK as passenger transport, which avoids a 25% duty. In order to belong to another category, the vehicles are equipped with rear windows, rear seats and rear seat belts. The vans are easily converted into commercial vehicles: the rear windows are replaced with metal panels, and the rear seats are completely removed. The removed parts are recycled, and the whole transformation process costs about a hundred dollars per van, but saves thousands. Perhaps it was this little trick that allowed the Tourneo Connect to win the 2004 Van and Light Truck of the Year award and the 2010 North American Truck of the Year award at the North American International Auto Show.
