Jaecoo is a new premium brand from Chery, introduced in April 2023. The name is derived from the German word "Jaeger" ("hunter") and the English "cool". In the corporate hierarchy of the Chinese corporation, the new brand is located one step above the Omoda brand - that is Jaecoo cars are positioned as more expensive and richer equipped. The first-born of the new brand, intended exclusively for export markets, was the J7 crossover, whose world premiere took place in the spring of 2023 at the Shanghai Auto Show. At the first stage, all Jaecoo will be offered with petrol turbo engines, but later they promise to bring plug-in hybrid and fully electric versions to the market.
