Mazda 6e – overview

The Mazda 6e is a full-size electric liftback created by the Chinese JV Changan Mazda. In China, the model that replaced the traditional Mazda 6 has been sold as the Mazda EZ-6 since the summer of 2024. In January 2025, the European premiere under the name Mazda 6e took place at the Brussels Motor Show. It is based on the liftback of Changan's subsidiary brand - Deepal SL03. The Japanese took part in the design development and driving fine-tuning, but technically the Mazda 6e completely replicates the Chinese source. In terms of design, the European Mazda 6e is practically no different from the Chinese Mazda EZ-6: narrow diode running lights and compact headlight units located underneath them, frameless doors with flip-out handles, a single taillight plate and a retractable spoiler. The cabin has a separate screen for instruments with a diagonal of 10.2 inches and a large multimedia touchscreen of 14.6 inches, a two-spoke steering wheel and a two-story central tunnel. The standard equipment included a panoramic roof, a head-up display, a wireless charging pad, a Sony audio system with 14 speakers, all-round cameras, and adaptive cruise control. Europeans were offered a new large 5-door exclusively in the form of an electric car with rear-wheel drive, while in their homeland there is still a hybrid version. Batteries are supplied by CATL. The base Mazda 6e Standard Range produces 258 hp. and is equipped with a 68.8 kW/h lithium iron phosphate battery, accelerates to “hundreds” in 7.6 seconds and runs 479 km on the WLTP cycle. The Mazda 6e Long Range received a 245 hp engine and an 80 kWh lithium-ion NMC battery. Acceleration to 100 km/h takes 7.8 seconds and the range is 552 km.
