Mercedes W136 - catalog and technical specifications
The Mercedes-Benz W136 is better known as the Mercedes-Benz 170V, where the letter "V" meant "Vorne" (translated from German as “front” or “in the front”). The letter distinguished the car with a front engine from the 170H ("Heck" – “back” or “in the rear”) with a rear-mounted engine. Produced from 1936 to 1955, the cars became the best-selling Mercedes-Benz vehicles of the pre-war period. Even after the war, the Mercedes-Benz 170V held this title until 1953. Which is quite natural: the original design was developed by the legendary Bruno Sacco. Thus, the car looked sporty and was equipped with airbags, belt pretensioners and many other innovations that were subsequently transferred to other German brand cars.
