Opel Astra OPC generations

The Opel Astra OPC is an upgraded version of the most popular Opel Astra, produced by Opel from 1999 to 2018. The first generation car was named Opel Astra GSi and was very different from the production version: it was more powerful, stronger, and more aerodynamic. The second generation was renamed Opel Astra OPC. The standard Astra was equipped with 147 hp, while the engine of the upgraded version produced 200 hp. In addition, the car had a special brake system with cooling, modified front wishbones, power steering, a reinforced rear axle and other elements to ensure high-speed driving. In 2002, the rear end acquired a spoiler and other elements. The 2005-2010 Opel Astra OPC was lower, had enlarged bumpers and side skirts, a centrally located exhaust, sports seats, a 2-liter turbocharged engine with 240 hp that provided a maximum speed of 244 km/h. It could accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.4 seconds. In 2005, OPC driver Manuel Reuter broke the Nürburgring compact class time record with a lap time of 8:35.93 minutes. The Fourth generation was equipped with a 2-liter turbocharged direct fuel injection engine, producing 280 hp and 400 Nm, a mechanical limited-slip multi-plate differential, an advanced braking system on the front axle, a sports suspension, high-performance racing seats and many other sports elements.
