BMW M5. Business class sports car
In 2020, the manufacturer released a restyled version of the sixth generation.
BMW M5 is a sports version of BMW 5 Series cars, which are E class cars from the German BMW concern. Now the sixth generation of the 2017 BMW M5 sedan is available on the Israeli market.
First generation
The first generation of BMW M5 was introduced in 1986 and was produced until 1987. Subsequent generations of M5 were replaced together with each generation of cars of the fifth series. The powerful back-wheel drive BMW M5 sedan outwardly practically did not differ from the usual BMW 5 of the second generation, but it had under the hood a 3.5-liter 286-horsepower engine. Due to this, the BMW M5 accelerated to 100 km/h in 6.2 seconds and it was awarded as the fastest production sedan of those years. Among other differences of the first M5 from the usual BMW 5 are shorter springs and shock absorbers, as well as reinforced brakes.
Second generation
The second generation of BMW M5 was produced from 1988 to 1994. The second M2 were not only sedans, but also station wagons. They got the same engine, but with increased to 315 hp. power. The M5 Touring wagon entered the market in 1992. A total of 12,245 second-generation cars were produced, including 891 station wagons.
Third generation
The third generation of BMW M5 was produced from 1998 to 2003. The third M5 received a new 4.9-liter V8 engine with 400 hp. and 6-speed manual transmission. This M5 accelerated to 100 km/h in 5.3 seconds. A total of 20,711 sedans was produced, but there were no station wagons.
Fourth generation
The fourth generation BMW M5 was produced from 2005 to 2010. The station wagon appeared again in the 4th generation. A total of 19523 sedans and 1025 station wagons were produced. The fourth M5 received a new engine with an increased number of cylinders. It was specially designed for the M5 models. 5-liter 507-horsepower engine accelerated the car to 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds, and the maximum speed was 337 km/h. Another innovation is the 7-speed SMG automated manual transmission.
Fifth generation
The fifth generation of BMW M5 was produced from 2011 to 2016. There was no station wagon version in the lineup again, the fifth M5 could only be a sedan. And it got a new engine again! The new engine was a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 developing 560 hp. The fifth BMW M5 was able to accelerate to 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds with it.
Sixth generation
The sixth generation of BMW M5 has been produced from 2017 to the present and available as a sedan in Israel. The new BMW M5 Sedan has perfect ergonomics, due to the elongated streamlined body shapes. Aggressive sporty features are combined with speed, comfort and safety.
