The Morris Mini Clubman is a subcompact 3-door 4-seater car, the predecessor of the MINI Clubman, produced from 1969 to 1980 by the British Motor Corporation (BMC, BMH from 1966, and British Leyland Motor Corporation or BLMC after the merger with Leyland Motors, Rover and Alvis in 1968). The small car, only 3162 mm long with a wheelbase of 2038 mm, replaced the outdated Riley Elf and Wolseley Hornet saloons. The new small car turned out to be revolutionary for its time and class. The Morris Mini Clubman was designed by Roy Haynes, who managed to create a beautiful and modern look. The expressive front part turned out to be 10 cm longer than the Morris Mini-Minor. Some people liked the appearance, and some could not come to terms with it. However, despite the Clubman's design causing controversy, its angular shape became a hallmark of the entire BLMC model range. Under the bonnet, the Morris Mini Clubman featured a 38bhp, 998cc engine inherited from the original Morris Mini. Two versions of the Morris Mini Clubman were offered: the saloon debuted first in 1969, followed in 1970 by the Clubman Estate estate with a 45bhp, 1098cc engine, manual transmission and front-wheel drive, which replaced the Austin Countryman and Morris Mini Traveller. Later came the sporty 1275 GT, which did not bear the Clubman name but shared the same front end. Over its 10-plus year career, the Morris Mini Clubman sold almost 600,000 units and took an important place in the brand's history. In 2007, after a 25-year hiatus, the MINI Clubman estate was revived.
