Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution – overview
The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution is a sports sedan designed to participate in the World Rally Championship, which became the ancestor of the entire Evolution family. Introduced in 1992, the car was based on the sixth generation Lancer compact sedan. At that time, the lightweight Lancer Evolution with a 250 hp turbocharged engine had the highest rates of specific power, which made it possible to easily deal with rivals, in particular the Subaru Impreza WRX. The model was incredibly successful. Thus, the planned volume of 2,500 cars was sold out in 3 days, so the same number had to be produced. As a result, the car became legendary. The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution was produced until 2017.
