Polestar 5 – overview
The Polestar 5 is a full-size, five-seat, all-electric fastback unveiled in September 2025 at the Munich Motor Show. The new flagship of the Swedish-Chinese brand was developed by Polestar's British subsidiary. It is based on the Polestar Performance Architecture (PPA) aluminum platform with an 800-volt electric architecture, not related to Geely's SEA platform and inspired by the best British sports cars. The body is all-aluminum. The front suspension is double wishbones, the rear is multi-link. Brakes with 4-piston calipers on the front axle are supplied by Brembo. The base model features standard BWI passive shock absorbers with hydraulic rebound stops, while the top-of-the-line Performance model features adaptive BWI MagneRide shock absorbers. The sedan, with its sloping rear end, features a panoramic roof over 2 meters long instead of a rear window. Standard wheels are rated at 20, 21, or 22 inches. Dimensions: length—5087 mm, wheelbase—3054 mm. The Polestar 5's interior features a 4+1 seating configuration: the rear center armrest, with integrated controls for the four-zone climate control and other functions, can be folded back to accommodate the middle passenger. All seats were developed in collaboration with Recaro and are equipped with heating, ventilation, and massage functions. The rear seatbacks recline electrically. The main rear trunk holds 365 liters, while the additional front compartment holds 62 liters. The 9-inch instrument panel is complemented by a 9.5-inch head-up display. The vertical 14.5-inch multimedia tablet runs Android Automotive OS. The standard equipment includes a 10-speaker audio system, while the top-of-the-line version features a 1680-watt Bowers & Wilkins sound system with 21 speakers. The interior mirror has been replaced by a display that continuously displays the image from the rear camera. A Level 2 autopilot system is available, based on a frontal radar, 11 cameras, and 12 ultrasonic sensors. Both versions of the Polestar 5 feature dual-motor all-wheel drive and an 800-volt lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 112 kWh. The top speed of both modifications is limited to 250 km/h. The base crossover produces 748 hp and 812 Nm of torque, accelerates to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds and has a range of 670 km (according to the WLTP cycle). The top-of-the-line Polestar 5 Performance produces a total of 884 hp and 1015 Nm, acceleration to 100 km/h takes 3.2 seconds, and the range is 565 km.
