SsangYong Korando - catalog and technical specifications
The SsangYong Korando is a compact SUV produced by the South Korean automaker SsangYong since 1983. The name comes from an abbreviation of the phrase "Korean can do!". The first generation, which was a licensed copy of the Jeep CJ-7, was produced by Keohwa Co., Ltd. In 1985, the company was acquired by Dong-A Motor. In 1988, SsangYong Motor Company was formed. Thus, the Korando became the first SUV in the SsangYong model range. It was a classic "jeep" with a short or long base in a 3-door body version. The modern SUV is equipped with two turbocharged engines (gasoline and diesel) and a 6-speed automatic type-tronic transmission (with manual mode).
