Triumph Spitfire – overview
The Triumph Spitfire is a two-seater convertible sports car produced under the Triumph brand from 1965 to 1970. Named after the famous WWII fighter Spitfire, the sports car became famous for its sports victories in both professional racing and street racing. Thus, it won the 1964 Tour de France rally and took the second place in the overall standings. The Spitfire quickly gained an iconic status on both sides of the ocean and became very popular with those who love speed, even though the entry-level version had handling issues. But external beauty, a powerful engine and superstar status were more important.
