Volkswagen 181 – overview
The Volkswagen 181 is an all-wheel drive 4-door convertible produced by Volkswagen from 1968 to 1979. Originally developed for the West German Army, the Type 181 entered the civilian market as the Kurierwagen (courier vehicle). All four doors were removable and interchangeable, the windshield folded down and the convertible roof could be removed for outdoor driving. The convertible featured a simple exterior and interior.
