Jeep Renegade SUV. 1st generation, 2018 restyling
The Jeep Renegade is a Jeep subcompact SUV produced by Stellantis (a union of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and Groupe PSA). This compact model, created by the Italian branch of the international group FCA in 2014, was popular all over the world. Restyling took place 4 years after the start of sales. The restyled vehicle has received new engines and some cosmetic changes. The upgraded 2018 SUV is currently available in Israel (as of 2021). Our review will tell you more about it.
Exterior
After restyling, the exterior of the compact vehicle has become more attractive and even more serious. Due to the ‘adult’ brand features of Jeep, the compact SUV looks larger. In fact, the vehicle size is determined by the platform shared with the compact Fiat 500L: the length is 4,236 mm, the height is no more than 1,684 mm, the width is 1,805 mm, and the wheelbase is 2,570 mm. The exterior of the 2018/2019 Jeep Renegade has changed slightly, acquiring a new bumper with a different arrangement of fog lights and turn signals, new head optics and modernized taillights. In Israel, the vehicle has 9 different body colors.
Interior
The interior of the 2019/2020 Jeep Renegade is attractive and modern. The architecture of the front panel is generally similar to that of the original model. The dashboard of the small Jeep has two traditional speedometer and tachometer pointer indicators, between which there is a very readable 3.5-inch screen (which can display arbitrary data).
After restyling, the Renegade’s interior is equipped with a new center console with a new Uconnect multimedia system with a 7-inch touchscreen, as well as another climate control unit. The rear passengers can use a USB port located at the rear of the armrest. The interior is comfortable, designed for 5 people. But, of course, there is one child seat between two rear full-fledged seats.
Powertrains
The restyled Renegade is the first vehicle to feature new turbocharged engines called Firefly from the GSE (Global Small Engine) range. The 3- or 4-cylinder engines are powerful due to turbocharging, four valves per cylinder and direct fuel injection.
Israeli buyers can purchase the Longitude version with a 1.3-liter 4-cylinder engine developing 150 hp, combined with a 6-speed DDCT transmission and front-wheel drive. Such a vehicle accelerates to 100 km / h in 9.4 seconds, the maximum speed is 196 km / h, and the average fuel consumption is 7.2 liters per 100 kilometers.
Equipment
The Longitude trim level includes a decent safety package. It includes: Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Electronic Roll-Over Mitigation System (ERM), Rear Parking Aid and Tire Pressure Monitoring. There are also power mirrors with the heating function, keyless entry and engine start, dual-zone climate control. The future owner can choose between 27 interior finishes in different shades.
