The Opel Crossland X is a subcompact SUV, which has been produced by Opel (Germany) since 2017. In 2021, Israeli buyers can purchase the first generation SUV after the restyling in 2020 (as of 2021).

Unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2017, the first Opel Crossland X went on sale in the summer of 2017. The vehicle is built on a modified PF1 Groupe PSA platform that is used on the Citroen C3 Picasso and Peugeot 2008.

At the beginning of October 2020, the vehicle underwent a planned restyling. The new Opel Crossland X has acquired a new exterior, slightly adjusted interior and new options. The SUV features a modernized steering shaft, new shock absorbers and springs in the suspension. Moreover, the 2020/2021 Crossland has darkened taillights, LED fog lights, chrome door sills, new 16 and 17-inch alloy wheels and GS Line+ pseudo-sports equipment with black and red accents in the passenger compartment.

Exterior

The 2020/2021 Opel Crossland X is designed in compliance with in Opel’s Vizor style: elongated headlights with LED daytime running lights. The radiator grille consists of thin horizontal ribs and chrome, and the manufacturer’s logo is located in the center. Protective linings made of unpainted plastic are laid around the perimeter, covering the sills, the bottom of the bumpers and the wheel arches.

The vehicle is very compact. It is 4,212 mm long, 1,825 mm wide and 1,605 mm high, offering the wheelbase of 2,604 mm and the ground clearance of as much as 200 mm. The trunk is very spacious: its minimum volume is 410 liters. By moving the rear seats forward or even folding their backs, you can get up to 1,255 liters of usable space.

Interior

The SUV’s interior has the same recognizable strict style of the German brand: a laconic center console, featuring an 8-inch multimedia system screen and an elegant climate control unit. A multifunctional three-spoke steering wheel and an analog instrument panel complete the overall picture of good quality and tranquility.

The front seats of the small 2017/2018 Opel Crossland X are certified by AGR (Healthy Back Campaign) and provide excellent comfort and a wide range of adjustments. The rear passengers can enjoy not only a comfortable backseat, but also an unexpected spaciousness, which is achieved by an ingenious solution: the backseat can move back and forth by 150 mm.

Powertrains and chassis

In Israel, the new Opel Crossland X comes with a 1.2-liter turbocharged (top-end version) 3-cylinder petrol engine with 130 hp. It is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. It consumes 6.5 l/100 km in the combined cycle.

The front suspension is independent MacPherson strut, and the rear suspension is a torsion beam semi-independent suspension. Transverse stabilizers are installed at the front and rear. The vehicle has disc brakes on both axles (front ones are ventilated) and a rack and pinion steering system with an electric booster.

Trim levels and equipment

There are two trim levels of the Crossland for Israel: Enjoy and Innovation (more expensive).

  • Enjoy can offer you the following great list of equipment: active emergency braking system, frontal collision warning system, stability control, adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition system, rear parking camera, front and rear parking assistant, 6-speaker multimedia system, front fog lights and rear lights and much more.
  • Innovation is a more extended version of Enjoy, including dual-zone climate control, keyless access, a transparent panoramic roof, LED headlights, a refrigerated glove box, as well as a two-tone body paint (for a surcharge).
