The Renault Captur is a compact five-seater SUV produced by Renault (France) since 2012. In 2021, Israeli buyers can purchase the second generation of the 2019 SUV with a 1.3-liter turbocharged engine and a semi-automatic transmission. Moreover, there are three trim levels.

The French side of the Renault-Nissan alliance used the CMF-B platform to create a new generation of its Captur mini SUV, which provides ample opportunities and lowers the cost of production, which has a positive effect on the final price of the vehicle.

Distinctive features

The new Renault Captur has a completely new body with a more impressive design. It should be noted that the vehicle has grown in size: it is 4,228 mm long (instead of 4,122 mm), 1,797 mm wide (instead of 1,778 mm) and 1,566 mm high (which is the same). The wheelbase has increased from 2,606 to 2,639 mm. The front face of the vehicle is decorated with LED headlights (included in the entry-level trim), while the stern features C-shaped spectacular lights. The two-tone design of this vehicle still enjoys popularity.

The interior also sports two-tone colors. It is completely new, and the main feature is the two-level center console: the selector for the semi-automatic transmission is located on the top, with a large tray for small things located under it. The center console is turned towards the driver, and the media system screen has a diagonal of 7 or 9.3 inches, depending on the trim level. A 7 or 10.2 inch display fulfils a function of a dashboard.

The passenger compartment has special pockets for small items (total capacity of 27 liters). Since the vehicle has become noticeably larger, the passenger compartment has become more spacious. Conveniently, the rear row can be moved longitudinally by 160 mm, giving more space for passengers or luggage. The maximum trunk capacity has grown by 81 liters and now reaches 536 liters.

Modifications

In Israel, the Captur comes with a new 1.0 liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine with 100 hp coupled with a 7-speed EDC semi-automatic transmission with two clutches. The suspension is a compact and inexpensive: the McPherson strut at the front and a semi-independent suspension at the rear. Only the front-wheel drive version is available.

Trim levels

Israeli buyers have access to three trim levels of the 2020 Renault Captur: Intense, Executive and Edition-1. The first version includes a 7-inch touchscreen multimedia system, a rearview camera, as well as front and rear parking sensors, Full LED Pure Vision headlights, adaptive cruise control, tire pressure sensors, ABS with EBD, ESP, EBA, lane departure warning system and smart braking with pedestrian detection. The steering wheel is leather and is equipped with paddle shifters. It is distinguished by 17-inch alloy wheels.

The Executive trim level includes a 9-inch multimedia system, additional blind spot scanners, the Multisense system (it allows the driver to change the driving style depending on his/her preferences: engine response control, steering wheel effort, choice of backlight color, etc.) and 18-inch wheels. The top Edition-1 comprises all of the above, plus an electric sunroof, parking assistant, and wireless smartphone charging. Since 2021, its sales have ceased.
