Fiat 500 is a compact A-class car from the Italian Fiat, based on the model from '60s. It can be either 3-door hatchback or cabriolet.

The new model dates back to 2007, when it was first produced in Poland. In 2015, the car was modernized and, after a slight modification, the very trim version entered the market in 2019-2020. But first things first.

First generation

To be precise, the first-generation Fiat 500, known as ‘Topolino’ (which is Italian for ‘mouseling’), was produced in Italy from 1936 to 1955. The car had a classic design: front engine, rear-wheel drive. Under the hood of the Fiat 500, one could see a 4-cylinder 569 cm3 petrol engine and a 4-speed transmission. 520 K cars of this model were produced in total.

Second generation

In 1957, the production of the second generation of the Fiat 500 has started. Due to its nearly complete renovation, it was renamed as ‘Nuova 500’. The compact 2-door body, only 2.97 meters long, was designed to carry 4 people, had a detachable cloth section on the roof, and the doors opened counterclockwise. The ‘new’ Fiat 500 had a rear-motor design, rear suspension on diagonal arms and a transverse leaf spring in the front wheel suspension. Production of the second generation of Fiat 500 Nuova continued until 1975, this model was also licensed by Austrian company Steyr-Puch. A total of 4.25 million of all modifications have been produced.

Third generation

The third, modern, generation Fiat 500, has been produced since 2007 in Poland. But if you look at the ads for the sale of this car, you’ll see that everyone forgets about the very first, historical generation of Fiat 500. The counting of generations goes back to 1957… Therefore, we speak only about the second generation of the compact Italian Fiat 500 with a restyling in 2015, which affected first a convertible and only a year later a hatchback.

Fiat 500 2019/2020 has a provoking interior and exterior design, compact size, affordable price, and good cost-effeiciency.

Advantages

It’s important to understand the fact that the modern second-generation Fiat 500 offers inexpensive trips, as its low fuel consumption is a reason why the car can be recommended as a cost-effective means of transport. The stylish interior creates a much better atmosphere than most compact cars of the same pricing level offer.

In the Italian national crash tests, the new Fiat 500 scared 4 out of 5 stars. It won 4 stars in the frontal crash and rollover tests, and 5 stars in the side crash test (according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration regulations).
