2020 Audi A3 Sedan. 4th generation
The Audi A3 is a compact luxury car produced by Audi (Germany) since 1996 in sedan, hatchback and convertible bodies. Throughout its lifetime, the model has repeatedly won prestigious awards in different countries. In 2021, the manufacturer released a new, fourth generation, introduced in the spring of 2020. Our review will tell you about the 2020/2021 Audi A3 sedan.
Exterior
The new Audi A3 sedan is beautiful. It looks moderately aggressive and emotional, but has not lost its trademark German solidity. Stylish head optics with an elegant pattern of daytime running lights makes the car easily recognizable. Apart from the standard LED headlights, there are also optional Audi Matrix intelligent LED headlights. They not only provide better illumination of the road, but also prevent dazzling the drivers of other vehicles. The original honeycomb grille tells you that this is a real Audi, while such elements as the elongated body and the swift silhouette that look like it’s pressed to the road make the sedan sporty.
The new sedan has retained not only the MQB platform, but also the general proportions and silhouette with additional windows in the rear roof pillars. The developers have managed to improve the aerodynamics by reducing the drag coefficient was reduced from 0.29 (the indicator of the previous generation sedan) to 0.25. The car has become 37 mm longer (4,495 mm), 20 mm wider (1,816 mm) and 9 mm higher (1,425 mm). The wheelbase is the same 2,636 mm as the model of the outgoing generation. The trunk volume remains 425 liters. In general, the 2021 Audi A3 looks elegant and expensive, humble and aware of its worth.
Interior
Just as other Audi models, this car has a stylish design with verified ergonomics, exceptionally expensive finishing materials and a thought-out composition. It is pleasant to see the five-seater layout with good headroom in both rows and the lower position of the front row seats, which has increased the headroom by 2 cm. The 10.1-inch media display is standard and slightly tilted towards the driver. All 4th generation cars are equipped with a digital dashboard with a 12.3-inch screen. With the optional 30-color ambient and contour lighting package, you can create an expressive lighting combination in the interior to suit your taste and mood.
Powertrains
In Israel, the 2020/2021 Audi A3 sedan comes with a single engine. This is a 1.5-liter turbocharged TFSI petrol engine (150 hp), coupled with a 7-speed S tronic transmission (a new 6-speed manual transmission won’t be available in the country). For greater efficiency, the sedan has a hybrid system that includes a 48-volt starter-generator. It helps when starting off, works within the Start-Stop system and allows you to save up to 0.4 liters of petrol per 100 km. These modifications feature multi-link suspensions.
At the start of sales, all A3s are front-wheel drive. The manufacturer’s range will later offer four-wheel drive versions, a full-fledged hybrid, as well as the simplest version with a 1.0-liter turbocharged engine and a semi-independent rear suspension.
Equipment
Israeli versions come standard with the following safety systems: Active Lane Assist, Audi Pre sense front, Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Monitoring System and 6 airbags. The car boasts the latest MMI Touch multimedia system (10.1-inch screen), panoramic roof, keyless entry, etc. The list of options includes a head-up display.
