The Volkswagen Golf GTI is a sports version of the popular German C-class Volkswagen Golf, produced since 1976. In 2020, in the Israeli market, it was already possible to buy the 7th generation Golf GTI, after the restyling of 2017/2018 in the body of a 3-door hatchback.

The front-wheel drive Hatchback 3-doors Golf GTI is a compact car with a length of 4268 mm, a width of 1790 mm. At the same time, its wheelbase is 26 mm, which indicates a quite roomy interior. The trunk volume is 380 liters.

Distinctive features

In comparison with its predecessor, the new GTI ‘lost weight’ by about 40 kilograms. And the designers claim that the updated forms have seriously improved the aerodynamics. From the outside, almost nothing betrays the hot temper of a sports hatchback. Except for that red stripe that stretches under the mesh radiator grille. And the chrome-plated ‘teeth’ at the running lights, red calipers and a pair of exhaust pipes at the stern. That’s all the decor.

In the interior, the difference between a regular and a’ charged " hatchback is minimal. Devices with red arrows. Glossy Checkered Black inserts on the dashboard and doors. Black ceiling paneling. Pedals with aluminum pads. Plus-increased chromium content in the details. The interior trim materials are of high quality: soft plastic, pleasant handles and switches. An 8-inch touch screen monitor is embedded in the center of the console. It produces a beautiful picture, which, like in a smartphone, can be enlarged by touching your fingers. The menu is activated when you hold your hand up to the screen. You can select audio system settings, engine and transmission modes, and Google Earth and Google Street View navigation services.

Modifications

In Israel, the restyled Golf GTI 2018/2019 comes with a 2-liter gasoline turbo engine producing 245 hp. The maximum speed of the hot hatch is electronically limited and is 250 km/h. Acceleration to ‘hundreds’ - 6.3 seconds. Very fast car! Fuel, on average, consumes 6.3 liters per 100 km. It is complemented by a 7-speed robotic gearbox.
