Results of the Israeli automotive market in 2021
We are very happy to share good news: the Israeli automotive market recovered in 2021. It grew quite rapidly, especially in the 2nd quarter. During the same period of COVID 2020, sales were too low, which can be compared to a pause in the trend of the past decade, when the market demonstrated an increase. The peak year was 2016, when car sales reached 286,701 units. The market was saturated, and sales were slowly declining for three consecutive years. In 2019, 253,800 cars found owners. Due to the pandemic, sales in 2020 amounted to 214,544 vehicles.
But 2021 has been a very positive year for the country. In the 1st quarter of last year, 100,437 vehicles were sold, which is 18% more than the same period in 2020. In the second quarter of 2021, sales were 83,354 units, which is 144.2% from 2020. Only 65,099 units were sold in the third quarter, slightly more than during the same period in 2020. In the 4th quarter, the growth trend continued with a total of 40,391 vehicles sold, or 18.6% more than at the end of 2020. In general, sales for 2021 amounted to 289,281 vehicles, which is a third more than in 2020, and 2.5 thousand vehicles more than during the record year of 2016.

Hyundai became the Israeli market leader last year. The South Korean brand increased its sales by 28.2%. In second place is Toyota (Japan), which added 42%, and another Korean company, Kia Motors, is the last in the top three, which managed to sell 55.9% more. As for the specific models, the places were distributed as follows:
- The Toyota Corolla is the best-selling car in Israel, it was chosen by 17,300 buyers, which is 40.8% more than in 2020;
- The Hyundai Ioniq is the second most popular car with a result of 12,311 units, which is 23.6% more than in 2020;
- The Kia Picanto is the third most popular car with 11,877 units, and it is this small car that shows the strongest growth: +45.4%.
