Chrysler New Yorker – overview
The Chrysler New Yorker is a premium passenger car produced by Chrysler from 1939 to 1996. In 1969, the car was transformed from a medium size model (until 1969) into a full size model. At that time, the model was produced in 2-door coupe and 4-door sedan bodies. Until 1974, the model featured a 7.2-liter V8 engine. After 1975, the car became smaller, but received a luxurious version called "Fifth Avenue". Throughout its long history, the New Yorker has occupied an intermediate position in the corporation's model range between cheap mass models and exclusive ones. And only after the termination of production of the Imperial models in 1976, the Chrysler New Yorker became the brand’s flagship and held this position until the last year of production.
