Renault ZOE – overview
The Renault Zoe is a 5-door, 5-seater electric hatchback produced by the French automaker Renault. Sales began at the end of 2012, and 10,000 electric cars were already sold in January 2014, and most of them were sold in Europe. The name "ZOE" is derived from the phrase "Zero Emission", which alludes to the zero content of harmful emissions. The word "ZOE" means "life" in Greek. Plus, Zoe is a common female name in France, which even caused a court procedure in which Renault had to defend its right to the name of the car, because the Greek word could not be patented in principle.
