The Volkswagen Karmann-Ghia is a coupe or convertible sports car produced by Volkswagen from 1955 to 1969. The car combined the chassis and transmission of the famous Volkswagen Beetle with the style of the Italian Carrozzeria Ghia and the hand-built body of the German coachbuilder Karmann. The design of the car is still considered one of the most memorable: aerodynamic contours, a forward-looking silhouette, a transparent coupe roof, a huge rear hood. However, despite its sports looks, the Karmann-Ghia’s engines were far from powerful.
