The SEAT Arona is a subcompact front-wheel drive SUV, produced since 2017. In fact, it is a raised version of the Ibiza hatchback, also based on the famous MQB A0 platform, which implies only front-wheel drive. In the spring of 2021, both vehicles were restyled. Their exterior has hardly changed, but the interior is a real revolution. In 2020, 81 thousand compact SUVs found their buyers in Europe, which is a great indicator! Therefore, this model is so important for the Spanish ‘offshoot’ VAG.

The Seat Arona is named after a city located on the island of Tenerife (part of the Canary Islands archipelago). The compact SUV is targeted at young people living in the city who value design and driving characteristics in cars. The list of advantages includes stylish design, rather spacious body, efficient power units and perfected handling. Israeli buyers can already purchase the restyled 2021 Seat Arona.

Exterior

The restyled 2021 Seat Arona can be distinguished by the new bumpers, nameplates, as if written ‘by hand’, as well as new redesigned wheel rims. LED headlights are standard, and the Xperience has an off-road look with decorative elements and a different front bumper, featuring the round fog lights that are located closer to the enlarged radiator grille (similar to the Cupra Formentor). Apparently, in this form, the new Arona makes a more ‘off-road’ impression.

Interior

The interior has been significantly redesigned, becoming even more attractive thanks to eye-catching elements. At the same time, finishing materials have become more expensive and pleasant to touch. Side ventilation deflectors are round and illuminated (paid option). The central deflectors have moved lower, replaced by a screen that is more readable and has grown to 8.25 or 9.2 inches instead of the previous 6.25 and 8 inches. There is a new multifunction steering wheel, trimmed with Nappa leather, the multimedia system has acquired voice control, which is activated in Spanish with the greeting ‘Hola!’. For a surcharge, you can order a digital dashboard with a 10.25-inch screen.

Powertrains

The new 2021/2022 Seat Arona is equipped with several engine options. The 1.0-liter TSI is offered in two power options: 95 hp and 175 Nm or 110 hp and 200 Nm. In addition, there is a 1.5-liter EcoTSI (150 hp, 250 Nm) and a methane 1.0-liter TGI (90 hp, 160 Nm). The vehicle is equipped with a 5 or 6-speed manual transmission or a 7-speed DSG robotic gearbox (available with 1.0-liter engines with 110 hp and 1.5-liter EcoTSI engines). Israeli buyers can purchase two modifications with a 1.0-liter engine with 110 hp and a 1.5-liter engine with 150 hp. Both of them are complemented by a 7-speed robotic gearbox. The average fuel consumption declared by the manufacturer is about the same: 4.9-5 liters per 100 kilometers.

Equipment

The new Arona has a wider choice of smart electronics: the Travel Assist package includes adaptive cruise control, automatic braking and lane keeping assist systems, and is able to recognize traffic signs. And the vehicle also has an automatic parking system. So, despite its compact size, it became popular.
