2016 Chrysler Pacifica Minivan. 2nd generation
Chrysler Pacifica is a vehicle produced by Chrysler (USA) that forms part of Fiat Group (Italy). In 2003-2007, a ‘CS’ model was produced, positioned by the company as a crossover. From 2016 to the present, a minivan has been produced with a petrol engine or a hybrid system, in a 7 or 8-seater variation. This is the very model that can be purchased on the Israeli market. In 2020, the restyled version was expected.
The 2019/2020 5-door minivan is delivered to Israel as a 7-seater vehicle. It is 5,176 mm long, 2,022 mm wide, 1,777 mm high, and has a wheelbase of 3,089 mm. The trunk volume reaches 914 liters (minimum). If you fold down the second row seats, this volume turns into 2,478 liters, and if you remove the third row - into 3,979 liters! This large, well-equipped and spacious minivan also turned out to be quite elegant. The Pacifica is a typical representative of the family car segment, which can be used for long trips with great pleasure and comfort.
Distinctive features
The 2016/2017 Chrysler Pacifica Minivan has a fully independent suspension: a MacPherson strut at the front and a multi-link at the rear. The impressive wheelbase provides a decent amount of space in the interior and ample freedom of movement for the second and third row passengers. The interior of the minivan is easily transformed, and various practical solutions increase the ease of use, for example, the electric tailgate and sliding side hands-free doors. The additional convenience is provided by a folding table in the back of the driver’s and passenger’s seats, a multifunctional removable center console with cup holders, overhead storage compartments in addition to numerous compartments in the standards places.
In the seven-seater version of the Chrysler Pacifica, all second and third row seats can be easily folded into the floor.
The interior transformation system deserves particular attention, as not every minivan will offer such a convenient solution when the seats are hidden in the floor. In the seven-seater version, all the second and third row seats can be folded into the floor with a slight movement. With the seats folded out, the floor niches can be used for storage. The third row seats can be folded into the floor even more easily, as they ‘fall back’ and simultaneously fold in half.
Exterior and interior
The 2016/2017 Pacifica has partially inherited the features of an SUV and looks sporty and bold. The corporate identity, first tested on the Chrysler 200, was taken as a basis. The minivan turned out to be elegant on the outside and functional on the inside. On advanced trim levels, the interior can boast high-quality materials. The panoramic roof with the largest glass area in its class allows all passengers to enjoy natural light.
Unlike most representatives of the minivan class, the new Chrysler Pacifica has a very memorable exterior. The vehicle is equipped with a rather long drop-down hood, which visually merges with a small radiator grille. The front bumper comprises a trapezoidal section of the air intake, on the sides of which there are niches with fog lights. The head optics have a teardrop shape and are complemented by strips of LED navigation lights. The side section is quite long, with a slightly sloping roof. At the rear, the car has an almost completely vertical tailgate, LED lights and a neat bumper with a step-shaped protrusion.
The interior of the 2017/2018 Pacifica minivan is very functional and ergonomic. You can find tons of different built-in controls, make seat adjustments to suit your own needs, and even keep kids entertained on a long trip by playing games on the touchscreens built into the front seat backs. One of the main features of the interior layout is the absence of a central tunnel. All major control systems are placed on the main console. In general, in terms of comfort and convenience, the interior of this minivan practically has no competitors.
Modifications
In Israel, the 2018/2019 Chrysler Pacifica minivan is supplied in front-wheel drive variation with a 3.6-liter V6 petrol engine with 280 hp, which is complemented by a 9-speed automatic transmission. The maximum speed is 196 km/h. The acceleration to the first 100 km occurs in 7.4 seconds. The average fuel consumption is 10.7 liters per 100 km.
Trim levels
The 2019/2020 Pacifica minivan is available on two trim levels: Limited and Touring L. All the models are equipped with sun blinds in the rear doors, a front center armrest, a third row of seats, a space-saving tyre and roof rails. The top-end Limited trim level is equipped with a panoramic roof, an extended package of electric adjustments, heated steering wheel, front and rear seats, side mirrors, seat ventilation, leather interior, and a hands-free trunk opening system.
Both trim levels provide at least eight airbags, including window ones (curtains), central locking, rear camera or 360-degree camera, front and rear child seat attachment system, rear parking sensors, cruise control or its adaptive version, such electronic assistants as ABS and ESP, hill start assist, traction control, collision avoidance system, lane departure warning system (on the Limited trim level), and a blind spot monitoring system.
All the trims of the new minivan are very well-equipped. The list of equipment includes a modern multimedia system suitable for Carplay, an audio system, power steering, 3-zone climate control, keyless access, push button start, a multifunction steering wheel and much, much more.
