Tesla. Plans for the future ‘cheap’ Tesla
In early March 2023, Tesla held a traditional Investor Day event, which Elon Musk announced on his Twitter page: ‘Master Plan 3, the path to a fully sustainable energy future for Earth will be presented on March 1, the future is bright!’. At the Investor Day, Tesla not only reported on the work done, but also shared their plans for the future, presenting the third part of the company’s global development plan. But it would be more interesting to find out when to expect a “cheap” Tesla for 25,000 dollars? And what is the company doing to introduce it as soon as possible?
The first part of Tesla’s plan was presented in 2006, when Elon Musk announced the transition to the mass production of electric vehicles. In the second part of 2016, the company talked about plans for the production of electric trucks, pickups and other equipment. At the same time, Musk talked about the launch of an autopilot and a robot taxi.
According to the company representatives, Tesla will build its own lithium processing plant for traction batteries in Texas and a new car plant in Mexico, which will start operating by the end of 2024 and will be the fifth in Tesla’s global structure. Today there are already two factories in the USA and one each in China and Germany.
In 2022, Tesla delivered 1.3 million electric vehicles, which was 40% more than in 2021, and aims to deliver up to 2 million in 2023. Elon Musk's long-term goal is to produce 20 million electric models a year.
With the launch of the new plant, the company’s total production capacity will reach 3.5 million electric vehicles per year. The Mexican plant will produce cars on a new platform. Now this is really interesting! As expected, it is there that they plan to produce the first Tesla of the new family, which should be more compact and almost a third cheaper than the current Model 3 sedan. By the way, we recently were looking for its shortcomings. The specific dates for the start of serial production have not been named. So, we are still waiting… But the goal has become a little closer!
Meanwhile, Tesla has significantly reduced the prices for the Model 3 and [Model Y](https://autoboom.co.il/en/magazine /tesla-model-y) in 2023: according to the updated price list, the Model 3 fell in price by 37,000 shekels, whereas the Model Y became 80,000 shekels cheaper.
