Hyundai Group is going its own way. The manufacturer has been interested in hydrogen fuel cells since 1998, and the manufacturer has achieved considerable success in this area: the price of electrochemical generators has decreased by 95%, and their resource has increased from 30 thousand to 160 thousand kilometers. The company confidently announces its Hydrogen Vision 2040 strategy, according to which not only passenger transport, but also freight transport, and the existing special equipment will continue to develop. Hyundai’s hydrogen propulsion systems will find application in buses, trams, trains, ships, aircraft and stationary power systems.

And this is quite real. Fuel cells of the third generation are on the way, and their price has been reduced by more than half. The base third generation powertrain will have an output of 100 kW (136 hp), but it will be one third more compact than the current module, which is installed on Hyundai Nexo crossovers (120 kW or 163 hp). The second variant develops 200 kW (272 hp), while keeping the same size. Small-scale hydrogen cars with such power units should appear as early as 2023. And by 2030, Hyundai plans to reduce the price of a hydrogen car to the level of a conventional battery electric car. In 2040, the company intends to offer consumers a full range of hydrogen models.

More news: A fuel cell supercar awaits us, and the photo shows the first running prototype called the Hyundai Vision FK. The Croatian company Rimac, which has become famous not so long when it bought Bugatti, is involved in its creation.

The Hyundai Vision FK is a rear-wheel drive coupe in a modified Kia Stinger body with a hydrogen powertrain. The battery and electric motor were made by Rimac, and Hyundai engineers combined them with an electrochemical generator and hydrogen cylinders. The peak power reaches 680 hp, acceleration to 100 km/h occurs in less than four seconds, and the estimated driving range is more than 600 km. Of course, it’s too early to talk about a full-fledged world debut of the supercar, and it’s hard to say when we will see this car on public roads. But Hyundai is working hard, and at least the Staria hydrogen minivan will be released soon.
