Hyundai Palisade. Second only to the mountains
The Hyundai Palisade is Hyundai’s front- or all-wheel-drive SUV. It was originally designed for the American market, where it was introduced at the end of 2018. This market was chosen due to its high demand for full-size SUVs. There are 7- or 8-seater versions with different engines.
The secret of the success of Korean cars is quite simple. The cars from the Land of the Morning Calm are made in compliance with the consumer’s needs after a thorough market survey. Therefore, they turn out to be good or excellent, albeit soulless. By the way, the handsome boys from the most famous Korean pop group BTS were chosen as the brand ambassadors, representing the car at all events.
Exterior
The SUV’s silhouette corresponds to the American standard, featuring a long straight hood, a straight window line, a special area dedicated to the trunk glazing, drawing attention to the additional places available there. The huge radiator grille accentuates the vehicle size, and the complex headlights seem overly pretentious.
Interior
The new Hyundai Palisade has seven- or eight-seater versions, which offer different second rows with two separate seats or a three-seater backseat, respectively. In general, the interior looks practical and discreet. The dashboard contains simple analog instruments and an on-board computer screen between them. The transmission control buttons fit neatly into the center console, next to the rotary drive selector switch.
All the rows are provided with heating or cooling through a three-zone climate control, USB sockets and other benefits of civilization. The vehicle features lots of pockets, leather interior and the favorite Korean solution with additional cameras in the mirrors.
Powertrains
The new SUV can be equipped with three engines. The most modest is a 2.2-liter turbocharged diesel 4-cylinder engine (200 hp, 440 Nm), followed by a pair of petrol units, including a 3.5-liter V6 distributed injection engine (249 hp, 336 Nm) and 3.8-liter V6 direct injection engine (291 hp, 355 Nm). The latter is sold in Israel. The vehicles are equipped with an 8-speed automatic transmission and all- or front-wheel drive (both versions are presented in Israel). The SUV has an independent suspension.
Equipment
Hyundai has made many of the latest safety features standard on the SUV, including Safe Exit Assist, which prevents children and pets from being accidentally locked inside the vehicle through audible and visual warnings. An exclusive ultrasonic rear sensor detects the presence of a child or pet in one of the rear seats. The vehicle has a rear-traffic alert system, forward collision avoidance assistance, adaptive cruise control and blind spot collision avoidance assistance. Plus, the 2018 Hyundai Palisade offers all possible comfort features, including heated seats, steering wheel, a sunroof or two sunroofs, an electric tailgate and much more. We can safely say that this huge SUV with a modern, formidable exterior, a very comfortable and well-equipped interior, as well as solid technical characteristics, will win the driver’s hearts.
