Wey Lanshan: ‘Coffee’ is becoming more expensive
Israel already has one representative of the Wey ‘coffee’ family: the Coffee 01, a premium SUV with a plug-in hybrid system with a capacity of 476 hp and an electric driving range of 149 km, priced from 269,900 shekels. In March 2023, the brand introduced another plug-in hybrid, the Wey Lanshan, the new flagship of the ‘coffee’ model range. And we have to state that ‘coffee’ is becoming more expensive right before our eyes… Today, this is the largest and most expensive Wey SUV. The 5-meter 6-seater Lanshan will receive a hybrid system with a driving range of 1,200 km. In the home market, it is expected in April 2023.
Lanshan means "blue mountain" in Chinese, which is the name of an elite coffee variety. Three previous Wey models are also named after coffee-based drinks (original names in the Chinese market: Mocha, Macchiato, Latte).
Exterior
Interestingly, the originally developed design was heavily criticized on the Internet, so it was changed. A full-fledged restyling even before the premiere! The new Wey Lanshan (compared to the very first one) has received different head optics: running lights and the main light are made in the form of strips. The front bumper and the radiator grille have also been replaced. As a result, the front of the newcomer looks completely different. But the rear with the taillights in the form of the letter Y has remained unchanged. Overall dimensions: 5,156×1,980×1,805 mm. The wheelbase is 3,050 mm. The vehicle comes with 21-inch wheels.
Interior
The large SUV is 6-seater: two seats in each of the three rows. The seats of the first and second row are equipped with electric drive, heating, ventilation and massage functions. All seats, except the driver’s seat, have retractable footrests. The front passenger seat is the most privileged: you can rest in it in a reclining posture, since the seat belt mount was placed on the back itself. But even the most modest third row has heating. There are three screens on the front panel. There are no physical buttons. The driver can use a head-up display. A panoramic roof is included as standard.
Powertrains
The 2023 Wey Lanshan is a serial plug-in hybrid with the well-known L.E.M.O.N. DHT powertrain based on a 1.5-liter turbo gasoline engine with a capacity of 150 hp, which mainly serves as a generator, but at high loads it is connected to the wheels, helping a pair of electric motors, which in normal mode provide the main driving range. The total capacity of the powertrain will be 517 hp and 933 Nm. A pure electric driving range is up to 180 km within the WLTC cycle thanks to a 42.5 kWh traction battery. With a fully charged battery and a full tank, the driving range will be about 1,200 km. The claimed acceleration time to 100 km/h is 4.9 seconds.
