Renault Megane Grand Tour estate. 4th generation, 2020 restyling

Renault Megane 2020. Bodywork, Exterior. Estate 5-door, 4 generation, restyling

The Renault Megane is a compact C-class family car, which has been produced by Renault (France) since 1995. It is available in five-door hatchback, sedan and estate bodies. At the moment, there is the fourth generation of the car, restyled in 2020 (as of 2021). Israeli buyers have a chance to purchase the Megane estate, called the Grand Tour, and the Megane Grand Coupe sedan.

The Renault Megane Grand Tour is a fourth generation estate, which was introduced in September 2016 (the model is also available as a five-door hatchback and sedan). In Israel, the estate comes with a turbocharged diesel engine and a 7-speed double clutch semi-automatic transmission.

Exterior

The new 2020 Renault Megane estate is designed in compliance with the brand’s family style, implying bold and dynamic body lines, as well as the original front face featuring the frowned optics with C-shaped lines of running lights and a chrome-plated radiator grille shield. But from other angles, the car looks beautiful and powerful: embossed sidewalls with the muscular wheel arches, expressive stampings and cool LED lights that sweep across almost the entire width of the stern.

The 4th generation estate is 4,626 mm long, 1,835 mm wide and 1,447 mm high. Compared to its predecessor, the new Megane has become longer and wider by 64 mm and 27 mm, respectively, but at the same time it has become 24 mm lower. The estate has a wheelbase of 2,712 mm and a trunk of 521 liters (or 1,504 liters, with the rear seats folded down).

Interior

The interior of the Renault Megane Grand Tour estate is inspired by the ‘older’ models of the brand, presenting an attractive and serious look. An interesting feature is a 7-inch vertical display that controls multimedia functions, under which there is a compact air conditioning unit. The driver can enjoy using a stylish steering wheel with control elements and a 7-inch screen that replaces classic instruments. All of these elements are included in the Zen version that is sold in Israel.

The new generation Megane has acquired better finishing materials, including soft plastics, Alcantara and even natural Nappa leather. The interior is suitable for a driver and four passengers.

Power trains and chassis

In Israel, the 2020/2021 Renault Megane Grand Tour comes with a 1.5-liter turbocharged diesel direct fuel injection engine. With it, the car consumes 5.1 liters per 100 km within a combined cycle. The gearbox is a 7-speed double clutch semi-automatic transmission.

The new Renault Megane estate has independent suspension on all wheels (the MacPherson strut at the front and at the rear). It is equipped with an electric power steering, disc brakes on both axles (front ventilated) and an electronic parking brake. Other options available in Israel include: alloy wheels, rain and light sensors, 2-zone climate control, as well as customizable color display on the dashboard, electric mirror and glass package. The R-LINK 2 multimedia system is equipped with a 7-inch 8-speaker tablet touchscreen display. There are front and rear parking sensors, a rearview camera, cruise control, and tire pressure sensors.

The list of standard safety devices looks quite extensive and includes ESP (electronic stability program), ASR (traction control system), ABS with emergency braking assistant, and six airbags.
