2018 Suzuki Jimny SUV. 4th generation
Suzuki Jimny is a miniature 3-door four-wheel drive SUV from produced by Suzuki (Japan) since 1970. There are 4 generations of this mini-SUV on the market, the latest of which has been sold in Israel since 2018.
The compact 2018/2019 Suzuki Jimny 3-door 4-seater SUV is only 3,650 mm long, 1,645 mm wide, and has a wheelbase of 2,250 mm. Its clearance reaches 210 mm.
Distinctive features
The new Suzuki Jimny is not only a true ‘long-liver’, but also one of the few ‘classic jeeps’ remaining on the market: despite its modest size, it is a full-fledged frame structure SUV with short overhangs, continuous axles and a connected all-wheel drive… Therefore, if not on the road, then in the mud this ‘Japanese’ will have the edge over more eminent, large and powerful competitors.
Modifications
The 2019/2020 Suzuki Jimny is supplied to the Israeli market with a 1.5-liter petrol distributed injection engine with 102 hp. Of course, this is not a super-fast engine, as the Jimny’s top speed is between 140 and 145 km/h. But this is not necessary! We are much more interested in its “off-road” qualities, rather than the high-speed ones. The gearbox can be either a 5-speed manual transmission or a 4-speed automatic transmission. Depending on the type of gearbox and the unladen weight of the SUV, the new Jimny consumes an average of 6.8-7.5 liters per 100 km, moreover, the version with an automatic transmission consumes more fuel than the one with a manual transmission.
Trim versions
Only the GLX trim version of the Suzuki Jimny is available in Israel. It contains almost a complete set of safety and driver assistance systems: ABS, ASR, brake assist (BAS, EBD, EBA), electronic stability program (ESP) and vehicle stability management (VSM), collision avoidance system, aane departure warning system, driving mode selection system, as well as hill start assist (HSA) and hill descent control (HDC).
It is clear that a Jimny is not as comfortable as a Mercedes. But, please remember this is a full-fledged SUV! For mountain roads, sand and swampy areas. Its ‘amenities’ comprise the cruise control, air conditioning, on-board computer, keyless access, folding mirrors, and power windows. The 2020 Suzuki Jimny will delight you with a two-tone body, roof rails, LED headlights, and full-size spare wheel!
