BAIC X55 – overview
BAIC X55 is a mid-size 5-seater crossover, the fourth model of the Chinese state-owned concern BAIC. In China, it debuted in 2022 under the name Beijing Mofang (translated as "Rubik's Cube"). In the Asian and African markets, the model is sold as Beijing X55 or Beijing X6. The manufacturer calls the X55 an "eccentric and dynamic" car for young people: the crossover is really packed in a modern, stylish and slightly futuristic "wrapper", boasts rich equipment and modern technologies. The streamlined body of 4620 mm in length with hidden door handles and a minimum number of protruding parts is designed for the sake of aerodynamics, but the drag coefficient Cx is only 0.32. Ground clearance is 180 mm. The trunk volume is 350 liters, there is an "underfloor" and a spare wheel located below. The BAIC X55 interior is minimalist with a sporty twist. The driver is faced with digital instruments and a 10-inch multimedia screen. The transmission selector and electric handbrake button are located on the hovering central tunnel. The emergency button is located above the driver's head in the center of the light, almost like in Tesla electric cars. The steering column paddles are reminiscent of those in Mercedes-Benz cars. The front and rear seats have integrated headrests. The top versions are equipped with 6 airbags, heated and ventilated front seats with memory for the driver's seat positions. Under the hood of the BAIC X55 is a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 177 hp and 300 Nm. AI-92 gasoline is allowed for operation. The gearbox is a 7-speed preselective robot with two wet clutches from the Chinese company SAGW. Front suspension - McPherson, rear - 5-link design, front-wheel drive only.
