Kia Stonic. For those who strive for self-expression

Kia Stonic is a subcompact front-wheel drive SUV produced by the South Korean automobile maker, Kia Motors, since 2017. Its name consists of two words: ‘fast’ and ‘tonic’. In 2020, the first generation Kia Stonic 5-Door SUV was offered on the Israeli market.

Update:

In 2020, the vehicle underwent restyling, the main difference being the introduction of a mild hybrid.

Stonic is the brother of the Hyundai Kona SUV, only smaller: its length is 4,140 against 4,165 mm for the Kona, and its height is 1,520 against 1,550 mm. Even the wheelbase of the Stonic is two centimeters shorter: 2,580 mm. The Kia Stonic has ‘lightweight’ proportions and looks more like a ‘raised’ hatchback than a full-fledged SUV. And Stonic’s platform and interior are the same as that of the Rio, while the body and interior design is different. Despite its compact size, the SUV’s interior provides ample space for the driver and passengers. The 2017/2018 Kia Stonic has one of the best head and shoulder space characteristics in the segment and an impressive head and leg space.

Exterior

The exterior of the 2018/2019 Kia Stonic is targeted at people aged 20-30 years. It is distinguished by large wheel arches and body kits, characteristic headlights, LED flashlights. The two-colored bodywork versions are available, including bright warm colors. At the same time, the Stonic is instantly recognizable as a Kia model thanks to its signature ‘tiger nose’ grille and other characteristic elements of the exterior. The body design was created in Europe in collaboration with the Korean design center KIA Motors. The Kia Stonic is a vibrant and dynamic crossover, a great choice for young, energetic people who strive for self-expression.

Interior

The standard fittings of the 2019/2020 Kia Stonic include electronic stability control (ESC) and dynamic chassis control (VSM), thanks to which the front-wheel drive SUV feels confident enough in different road conditions. The car has a durable, safe and lightweight body. 51% of the load-bearing structure is made of ultra-high-strength steel. The robustness of the body ensures safety for the driver and passengers and a high level of traveling comfort in all road conditions.

Modern technologies are focused on ensuring the safety, comfort and usability of the vehicle. The standard equipment of the 2020 Kia Stonic includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto systems, which ensure the display of smartphone services on the touch screen of the multimedia and navigation system. Like many other KIA models, this vehicle is equipped with cruise control and keyless access system.

Trim versions

Depending on the trim version, the new Kia Stonic will be offered with a whole arsenal of DRiVE WISE safety and driver assistance systems, including the Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) with pedestrian recognition and Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA), Blind Spot Detection (BSD), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), and Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS). Based on a new system for processing mixed signals from cameras and sensors, the Stonic has the High Beam Assistant (HBA) and Driver Attention Warning (DAW).

The Kia Stonic is a typical youth car, perfectly fitting into the "golden" standards of Israel.

A small urban crossover, whose name comes from the words "quick" and "tonic", has a bright exterior, decent basic equipment, and a high level of driving comfort under any road conditions. The steering and suspension ensure instant reactions to steering actions and vehicle stability while in motion. Modern technologies focus on ensuring safety, comfort, and ease of use. But most importantly, the Kia Stonic saves your family budget, being quite affordable.

In Israel, the Kia Stonic is popular. Introduced in 2017, the car reached 8th place within the brand in terms of sales in 2018, climbed to 4th in 2019, maintaining that position in 2020/2021. This compact crossover, 4.1 m in length and with a 2.5 m wheelbase, has "passenger car" proportions and looks more like a "raised" hatchback.

Despite its compact dimensions, the cabin provides passengers with ample head and shoulder room and an impressive legroom. In these aspects, the Kia Stonic is one of the best in its segment. Before the 2020 facelift, the Kia Stonic in Israel was offered with a 1-liter GDI engine and a 1.4-liter MPI. Both engines are complemented by a 6-speed "robot" and front-wheel drive.

The updated Kia Stonic received a modernized multimedia system with new features and an 8-inch display (instead of 7-inch), a larger instrument panel, and new finishing options. After the facelift, the crossover became safer: the number of airbags increased to 6, and there was a significant expansion in electronic assistants. The automatic braking system now recognizes not only pedestrians but also cyclists, lane centering, and adaptive cruise control work at speeds up to 180 km/h.

The current Kia Stonic 2023 model is available in Israel in two petrol versions. The first comes with the previous 1.4-liter engine. The second, 1.0 T-GDI, is now equipped with a 1-liter "turbo-triple" paired with a 48-volt electrical add-on. In this system, the starter-generator, feeding energy to the traction battery, uses energy recuperation during braking and turns off the gasoline engine when coasting. During acceleration, the starter assists the engine to reduce fuel consumption. In combined cycle, the Kia Stonic 1.0 T-GDI consumes 5.7-6 liters per 100 km, while the Kia Stonic 1.4 MPI consumes 6.6-6.8 liters.

Buying a Kia Stonic in Israel is an opportunity to purchase a quality car at a reasonable price. This bright and dynamic crossover is an excellent choice for young, energetic Israelis aiming for self-expression.
