Subaru Brat – overview
The Subaru Brat is a passenger pickup produced from 1978 to 1994. The name comes from an abbreviation of the English words "Bi-drive Recreational All-terrain Transporter". The model was sold under this name in Canada and the United States. It was known as the Subaru 284 in UK, as the Subaru Brumby in Australia, and as the MV, Targa or Shifter in other countries. The pickup is built on the basis of the all-wheel drive Leone estate specifically for the US market. It was equipped with 1.6- and 1.8-liter engines. The automatic transmission or turbocharged versions were offered for an extra charge.
