Crossover Bentley Bentayga. 1st generation of 2016
Bentley Bentayga – a mid-size four-wheel drive premium crossover from British brand Bentley Motors, part of German concern VAG, produced since 2016. In 2020, the first generation of this luxury family crossover was available on the Israeli market, and facelift version was expected to be released.
5-door crossover Bentayga 2016 model year is presented in both 4-seat and 7-seat versions. Its dimensions are: 5141 mm in length, 1998 mm in width, wheelbase is 2992 mm. The trunk volume is 430 liters. When the cabin is transformed, it increases to 1774 liters. The crossover’s weight is about 2.5 tons and its payload is 800 kg. The rear door is equipped with a non-contact opening and closing system.
Distinctive features
This is a real Bentley in the SUV world! Luxury and dynamics are perhaps two keywords that can be used to describe it. Inside the 2016/2017 Bentley Bentayga, an atmosphere of splendor reigns in leather, wood, and metal. The front ventilated seats are 22-way adjustable, heated, and have a built-in massage. Buyers can choose from 15 basic leather finishes and 15 types of mats, 7 wood options. The dashboard is fully digital. The head unit is 8 inches with a touch screen; there is a 60 GB hard drive. Especially for the rear passengers, there are 10.2-inch tablets with an operating system based on Android. As for the audio system, there are three options to choose from.
New Bentayga is equipped with an adjustable air suspension with 4 basic modes, active rollover protection, and electronic power steering with a variable gear ratio. Speed modification received a modified suspension and a different exhaust system, providing a more perky sound when starting the engine and shifting the transmission down. As an option, buyers will be offered carbon-ceramic brakes, which develop the most powerful braking force in the history of a British company – 6,000 Nm and can withstand temperatures up to 1,000 degrees Celsius.
The 2018/2019 Bentley Bentayga is equipped with all modern security systems. It was equipped with a variety of electronic assistants for driving in city traffic, on long trips, and off-road. There is adaptive cruise control, traffic-sign recognition, a hill descent control system, and surround-view camera. Options include automatic valet parking, night vision, and a head-up display. There are also additional accessories – for example, kits for fishing or falconry.
Modifications
The standard Bentley Bentayga is powered by a 6-liter V12 engine with twin turbochargers. The unit produces 608 hp at 6,000 rpm and 900 Nm of torque. Regarding to interesting features of the engine, it is worth noting the possibility of turning off the cylinders, then at low loads, the engine runs on six of them, as well as the presence of two fuel injection systems simultaneously – direct and distributed. Due to these and other measures, fuel consumption is greatly reduced and in an urban cycle is 19.2 liters, and outside the city is 9.1. The gearbox is an 8-speed automatic, all-wheel drive; the traction is transmitted to all wheels and distributed between the axles in a ratio of 40:60 thanks to the Torsen differential.
In 2019, a new high-speed top version appeared – Bentayga Speed, capable of once again competing for the title of the fastest crossover on the planet. The power of the 6-liter V12 engine was increased to 635 hp, the same torque of 900 Nm was maintained, but top speed increased from 301 to 306 km/h, and the acceleration time from 0 to 100 km/h was reduced from 4.1 to 3.9 s.
There is also a diesel version of Bentayga, equipped with a 4-liter V8 engine with 435 hp. It is also equipped with 8-speed automatic transmission, accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds, and top speed is 270 km/h. At the same time, the average fuel consumption of the diesel version is only 7.9 liters per 100 km. It is this modification that is supplied to Israel.
