Chevrolet Blazer. Fashionable crossover
The Chevrolet Blazer is a mid-size SUV produced by the American company General Motors under the Chevrolet brand since 1982. Today, the third generation Chevrolet Blazer of the 2018 model year can be purchased in the Israeli market.
First generation
The first generation of the Chevrolet Blazer was produced from 1982 to 1994, undergoing restyling in 1990. The name ‘Blazer’ was used by Chevrolet several times for different models. From 1969 to 1994, a large two-door K5 Blazer pickup truck with a detachable canopy was produced, which was replaced in 1995 by the first generation Tahoe. And since 1982, the S-10 Blazer SUV has been produced, which, in fact, became the first generation of Blazers. The first Blazer produced in 1982 differed from the pickup in a more compact size, a spring-loaded front suspension and a ‘passenger’ interior. At first it was a three-door, and in 1990 a five-door version appeared. A similar car was sold under the GMC Jimmy name, and a more expensive version entered the market under the Oldsmobile brand.
Second generation
The second generation of Chevrolet Blazer was produced from 1994 to 2005, having gone through restyling in 1998. The second Blazer retained the design of its predecessor, it could be in a three-door and five-door body, in addition, an Isuzu Hombre pickup was created on the basis of an SUV. In 2002, the Blazer was replaced by the luxury Trailblazer crossover with a frame structure, spring-loaded rear suspension, rear or plug-in all-wheel drive with a downshift, with three rows of seats in the cabin and seven seats. It was sold in Asia and Latin America.
Third generation
The third generation of Chevrolet Blazer has been produced since 2018 to the present. The revived 2018/2019 Blazer is a fashionable crossover with a monocoque body, a transverse engine and basic front-wheel drive. The new GM C1 platform has provided the 2019 Chevrolet Blazer crossover with not only fully independent suspension on all wheels, but also a solid set of modern safety systems and electronic assistants.
The 4WD Blazer with a V6 engine can carry a trailer weighing up to 2041 kg.
The new Blazer is slightly larger than the Equinox and smaller than the Chevrolet Traverse. And its external resemblance to the Chevrolet Camaro sports car is simply obvious! The large radiator grill shield, the predatory look of the headlights, the embossed sidewalls and the hood make the appearance of a real athlete!
The most advanced Blazers are the RS with a black mesh front and the Premier with lots of chrome details. For the expensive versions of the Blazer - RS and Premier, presented on the Israeli market, an advanced GKN transmission with ‘two clutches’ is provided: one electronically controlled clutch is responsible for transmitting torque to the rear wheels, and the second for the degree of locking of the rear differential.
The all-wheel drive Blazer with a V6 engine can carry a trailer weighing up to 2041 kg. And the new 2020 Chevrolet Blazer became the first Chevrolet model with a standard organizer in the trunk, moving it along the rails, you can divide the compartment into two parts.
