Chevrolet Equinox is a compact crossover manufactured by the American company General Motors under the Chevrolet brand since 2004. Today the third generation of the 2017 Chevrolet Equinox SUV 5-doors is available on the Israeli market.
The Chevrolet Equinox, originally designed for North American countries, has become the second most popular Chevrolet lineup after the Silverado. In total, more than two million people have bought the crossover since its launch.
First generation
The first generation of Chevrolet Equinox was produced from 2004 to 2009. The first Equinox was built on the GM Theta transverse engine platform previously used for the Saturn VUE crossover, but differed from it with a longer wheelbase and steel monocoque body. Crossovers Suzuki Escudo and Opel Antara were produced on the same platform. The first Equinox was front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive was offered as an option. The closest analogue of the Equinox was the Pontiac Torrent, which differed from the Chevrolet Equinox only in its exterior design.

The first generation of Chevrolet Equinox was the leader in its class in terms of interior width and functionality - the rear seat had a Multi-Flex system with the possibility of longitudinal movement by 200 mm, which increased passenger legroom or trunk volume. And in the trunk of the first Equinox, there was a height-adjustable, double-skinned, easy-to-clean plastic and carpet shelf, which made it a portable picnic table.
Second generation
The second generation of Chevrolet Equinox was produced from 2009 to 2017, undergoing restyling in 2015. The second Equinox, designed on the modernized platform of its predecessor, has decreased in length and received a new modern design. All cars were now equipped with an emergency braking system, as well as front side airbags with head protection. All the second Equinoxes had a six-speed automatic transmission, and the drive could be front-wheel or four-wheel. In 2015, a restyled model entered the market, different only in design.
Third generation
The third generation of Chevrolet Equinox has been produced from 2017 to the present. The third Equinox has been completely updated - from the platform to the set of power units, from the design to the electronic filling. Chevrolet Equinox 2017/2018 is based on the Delta GM platform. Compared to the previous generation crossover, the new Equinox is 180 kg lighter, while the body structure is stronger. The suspension of both axles is independent, and the all-wheel drive system is already available in the ‘basic’ configuration.
The new Chevrolet Equinox has an attractive design, rich equipment, a roomy interior and excellent dynamics.
Chevrolet Equinox 2019/2020 has become more impetuous and aggressive, the lighting optics have acquired LED elements, and the interior pleasantly surprises with a variety of colors of finishing materials and its quality. The rear seats of the new crossover are truly spacious. It can easily accommodate three passengers, and their height can reach 190 centimeters.
The 2020 Chevrolet Equinox has made a quantum leap forward compared to its predecessor. The new crossover has an attractive design, rich equipment, a roomy interior, and excellent dynamics.
