The Hyundai Tucson is a compact SUV manufactured by Hyundai since 2004. In 2020, the Korean manufacturer presented the fourth generation vehicle, radically different from its predecessor. In Israel, the model is sold with two petrol engines.

In 2019, the world saw the bold Hyundai Vision T concept car, which, after some simplification, became a production model in the form of a new generation of the popular Korean model.

Exterior and interior

The Tucson's new front end is designed in compliance with the Parametric Dynamics corporate style, which is characterized by very futuristic, technocratic, cold, sharply chopped and faceted features. Several edges converge on the front doors, making it difficult to repair any dent. The vehicle turned out to be larger than the predecessor in all respects. Thus, the SUV has become 20 mm longer (4.5 m), 15 mm wider (1,865 mm) and 5 mm higher (1,650 mm). The wheelbase has become 10 mm longer (2,680 mm). The row spacing has been increased by 26 mm. The trunk volume of a crossover with a petrol engine varies from 620 liters under the rack to 1,799 liters with the rear row folded down.

The interior features an advanced 10.25-inch dashboard. The massive center console comprises a large media system screen (8.0 or 10.25-inch, depending on a trim level), below is a three-zone climate control sensor unit. The gearbox is controlled via a pushbutton panel located on the central tunnel. The interior comes with a contour lighting that offers 64 color shades and brightness adjustments.

Powertrains

In Israel, the new Hyundai Tucson comes with two engines. The first unit is a 1.6-liter Gamma turbocharged direct injection engine with 180 hp, coupled with a 7-speed dual-clutch semi-automatic transmission. The second unit is a 2-liter multipoint injection engine with 155 hp, coupled with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The first powertrain consumes 6.9 liters per 100 km and accelerates to 100 km/h in 8.8 seconds. The second powertrain consumes 8.2 liters and accelerates to 100 km/h in 11.1 seconds. The vehicle features a MacPherson strut suspension at the front and a multi-link suspension at the rear.

Equipment

The 2020/2021 Hyundai Tucson has 4 trim levels. The top-end Premium version has a 2-liter engine and automatic transmission. The rest (Prestige, Luxury and Elite) are equipped with a 1.6 liter engine and a semi-automatic transmission. In addition to the standard six airbags, the basic equipment includes the seventh airbag between a driver and passenger. The expensive trim levels come with the ventilated front seats and heated rear seats. The new SUVs are equipped with ‘smart’ cruise control, which reads speed limit signs, automatic braking and lane-keeping systems, as well as all-round cameras and a parking assistant, and much, much more.
