The wait is over! The innovative Korean electric SUV, the Kia EV6, is already in Israel. This was announced by Talkar, the exclusive supplier of Kia models in Israel. The new 2023 Kia EV6 will come to us in rear-wheel drive versions with a capacity of 229 hp and in all-wheel drive versions with a 325 hp engine. In addition, the cost and trim levels are already known. For those who are especially impatient, the price of the entry-level version starts from 249,000 shekels, while the top-end one costs from 299,000 (moreover, Talkar claims that the price already includes a possible increase in the tax on electric vehicles).

Exterior and dimensions

The Kia EV6 is based on the new Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), designed specifically for battery electric vehicles (the manufacturer designates them with the BEV abbreviation). The E-GMP platform, with a non-classic arrangement of powertrains, has made the SUV quite unusual: a low hood, a long wheelbase (2,900 mm), rather big dimensions, with the length of 4,680 mm, the width of 1,880 mm, and the height of 1,550 mm. That is, it is clearly larger and more spacious than, for example, the Kia Sportage.

The Electric-Global arrangement is as follows: the traction battery is located under the passenger compartment floor, the main electric motor is on the rear axle, and it is possible to supplement it with a front engine for an all-wheel drive version. The first model created on the new modular E-GMP platform was the new Hyundai Ioniq 5, completely an electric crossover version of the Hyundai Ioniq hatchback, produced since May 2021, which can already be purchased in Israel. We have already analyzed why Israelis love it: sales volume in the Israeli market.

However, unlike the Ioniq 5 that is focused on space and smoothness, the Kia EV6 is designed with sporty dynamics in mind, which is reflected in its appearance, suspension and steering calibrations, and even the atmosphere inside the passenger compartment. The EV6's long wheelbase gives it a spacious feel, and the power-assisted rear floor is flat, so rear passengers can sit comfortably too. The rear trunk offers a volume of 520 liters, but there is also a front one with a volume of 52 liters for the rear-wheel drive SUV version and 20 liters for the all-wheel drive one.

Interior and equipment

In Israel, the 2023 Kia EV6 will be offered in two trim levels.

  • The rear-wheel drive EV6 2WD will get: a digital dashboard with a 12.3-inch screen and a 12.3-inch screen of the multimedia system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, multiple front and rear USB connectors (mainly type C), as well as a wireless charging pad, front and rear parking sensors, electric handbrake with Auto Hold function, LED lighting, light and rain sensors, smart key, power sunroof, 19-inch alloy wheels, etc. The driver’s power seat has memory function. The passenger compartment features leather upholstery combined with fabric.
  • The all-wheel drive EV6 GT-Line AWD is equipped, in addition to all of the above, with adaptive Matrix LED headlights, additional electric adjustments for the passenger seat, heated and ventilated front seats, heated steering wheel and rear seats. In addition, a V2L adapter, a 220V socket in the rear seat, a 360-degree camera and an automatic parking system are available. Leather is used as a finish in combination with Alcantara.

Speed, driving range and safety

Safety

The new Kia EV6 received high safety ratings in Euro NCAP crash tests. The list of safety systems includes: autonomous braking along with cornering support, active lane departure warning and lane keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, rear occupant alert, blind spot monitoring, etc. There is even a safe exit system. The equipment includes 7 airbags, including the central one (between driver and passenger). The GT Line trim level adds a blind spot video display system on the dashboard when the signal is turned on.

Modifications

The 2023 Kia EV6 will come to the Israeli market in two versions: with rear-wheel drive 2WD and AWD with the GT-Line package, which makes the SUV look more dynamic. All models are equipped with a 77.4 kWh battery. There is the possibility of both fast charging with DC power up to 350 kW, and slow charging with AC power up to 11 kW.

  • The Kia EV6 AWD is an all-wheel drive model with two electric motors with a total capacity of 325 hp and a torque of 605 Nm, which allows it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds, with a top speed of 188 km/h. The range of this version is 484 km, while the combined energy consumption is 180 W/h per kilometer.

In 2022, the Kia EV6 became the best car in Europe. The full list of 2022 finalists can be viewed here. If you want to know the participants in the Car of the Year 2023 contest, we have already talked about this, assuming that the electric vehicle will win.
