The MG ZS is a subcompact SUV manufactured by SAIC Motor (China) under the MG brand. The MG ZS EV is an electric vehicle based on the 2019 MG ZS petrol model. It is the very model that can be purchased on the Israeli market in 2021.
Distinctive features of the electric SUV
The new MG ZS is small. It is 4,314 mm long, 1,809 wide and 1,664 high, and has a wheelbase of 2,579 mm. As for the suspension, the vehicle is equipped with the MacPherson strut at the front and a torsion beam at the rear. The electric 2019 MG ZS EV differs from the petrol ZS by slightly modified bumpers, original 17-inch wheels and a plug where the radiator grille should be. Below it are the charging connectors. Equipment
The new MG ZS EV is powered by a 44.5 kWh water-cooled lithium-ion battery with a drive range of 260 kilometers (WLTP) and 335 kilometers according to the NEDC cycle, which is not that much for a modern electric vehicle. Nevertheless, this drive range is sufficient for driving within the city. The ‘fast’ charge station charges the battery to 80% in just 30 minutes. At this time, you can have a snack and rest.
The vehicle is very dynamic, which is typical of electric cars, because the torque (353 Nm) is generated immediately from the very beginning. The engine power of 105 kW, which is equivalent to 143 hp, provides acceleration dynamics of 0-100 km/h in 8.2 seconds, whereas the maximum speed is limited to 140 km/h.
Trim levels
The electric SUV is quite generously equipped. Both trim levels of the 2020/2021 MG ZS EV sold in Israel feature the latest 8-inch color touchscreen infotainment system with satellite navigation, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth. There are: wheel lock prevention system, emergency braking enhancement system, traction control system, tire pressure monitoring system, etc. There is also a signature MG Pilot safety package, which includes monitoring cameras, emergency braking systems, blind spot monitoring system, lane keeping assist, adaptive cruise control and much more.
It is especially pleasant to see a huge panoramic sunroof, which is included in the top-end NET UP S trim level. It can also be identified thanks to 17-inch alloy wheels. It has a more advanced Pilot MG package, 6 speakers instead of 4, leather-trimmed seats and an electric driver’s seat, as well as heated front seats and mirrors. Another important advantage of the vehicle is its price, which makes it the most affordable of compact electric vehicles.
