Subaru XV SUV. 2nd generation, 2020 restyling
The Subaru XV is a compact SUV manufactured by Subaru (Japan) since 2011. In 2019/2020, the second generation five-seater SUV was restyled. The vehicle has slightly changed both externally and technically. Let’s find out what it can offer now.
Exterior and interior
Symmetrical four-wheel drive and a ground clearance of 220 mm make the SUV a good off-road conqueror. A new front face has become more expressive and impressive due to the bumper black protective linings, which have become larger. The bumpers are new, as is the radiator grille, featuring even larger cells. As is usually the case with the restyled models, the new Subaru XV has received new wheels. The LED headlights are equipped with a dynamic cornering light system (they ‘turn’ following the steering wheel). The interior has not changed. Ergonomics is paramount: high seating position, excellent visibility, minimum blind spots, well-thought-out shape of the seats.
Powertrains
A 1.6-liter petrol engine with 114 hp is still standard. Such an engine accelerates the SUV to 100 km/h in 13.9 seconds, while developing the maximum speed of 175 km/h. Average fuel consumption is 8 liters per 100 kilometers. A more dynamic option is a 2-liter naturally aspirated engine with 150 hp. Acceleration to 100 km/h occurs in 10.4 seconds and a top speed is of 195 km/h. Average fuel consumption is 8.5 l/100 km. Both engines work in tandem with a wedge-chain variator (a belt has been replaced by a metal chain; the wedge-chain variator has the lowest torque transmission losses and the highest efficiency) and all-wheel drive. The suspension offer new characteristics of the springs and shock absorbers, which has improved the quality of ride and comfort.
Equipment
After the restyling, all the trim levels of the 2020/2021 Subaru XV include the EyeSight preventive safety package. It includes adaptive cruise control, automatic braking, lane keeping assist and driver fatigue sensor. The entry-level car has seven airbags, heated front seats and steering wheel, dual-zone climate control, a media system (with a 6.5-inch screen), light and rain sensors, an engine start button, a keyless entry system, LED headlights with washers, a rear camera, 17-inch wheels. The X-Mode off-road system has two modes. The expensive versions offer an electric driver’s seat, an 8-inch media system screen, a leather interior, a sunroof, a navigator, a memory for the driver’s seat and mirrors, as well as 18-inch wheels.
